Ed – I’ve been an advocate against the widespread and indiscriminate use of DDT (and other synthetic pesticides) for over twenty years. On the malaria part – my father had malaria and even with the “best” of treatment available at the time suffered from its effects throughout my entire childhood. Also, my husband grew up in Brasil. So I’ve been interested my entire life, having known young how malaria adversely affects so many, and so horribly. The “solution” of dumping economic poisons like DDT into homes and the environment not only doesn’t work but also causes so much collateral damage that I’d like to see as much sunshine poured on this practice as possible.
