Testing… Testing…
Found a test this morning that purports to tell me what kind of frog I am. Oh Best Beloved, who could resist finding out? Forget Meyers-Briggs et al: this is my kind of test!
Guess what? I’m not a frog at all. I’m a common toad! Let’s see… rotund body… mostly nocturnal… walks slowly… searches out insects… sensibly digs down deep to keep warm when cold weather hits… this is all sounding so familiar.
Ribbet.

“The largest toad found commonly in Europe, the Bufo Bufo species can grow up to 20cm in length with a rotund body. Active mostly at night, this toad will walk about slowly, sometimes making short jumps, in search of insects, worms and other invertebrates. This makes it of great help to farmers. At the end of autumn it buries itself in the soil where it remains until good weather arrives again.”

I am a Smiling Tree Frog, also known as the Dumpy Tree Frog due to the nature of its appearance. This frog is a very hardy creature and a favorite pet of amateur frog owners, although some pet owners complain that they are not active enough. These frogs love to eat, which can make them quite fat, hence their “dumpy” appearance. Unlike many frogs, these frogs do well with other frogs of their species and are fairly friendly. They like a warm and moderately humid habitat and eat larger insects like crickets, cockroaches, locusts, moths and beetles.
OK, I’ll cop to the lack of activity and being fairly friendly. The humidity thing doesn’t fly - I have asthma and selected Fall as my favorite season - so not sure how they got that.
As for the Dumpy commentary - I’m working on it! Jeez!!!
Dumpy, huh? Well, at least you aren’t “common!”
